Hello....Life

Here's to another happy and productive long weekend!  I finished another mixed media painting, but not before taking the pup to the vet.  Seems he chomped on a stick and  a wee bit became lodged between his teeth.  All better now and the bill didn't break the bank...whew!

When I start painting and adding layers, I don't have a theme or colour in mind, so when the blue and green started to bring the canvas to 'life' I went with it.  I'm loving the happy colours and am having a great time creating new artwork.  I'm still very much a beginner taking baby steps.

Here's my angel.  She's very happy, thus her happy message.

I'm very happy with the way this piece came together.  I'm enjoying the journey of learning and creating outside my comfort zone.  Learning to be patient and let the art out naturally.  Being genuine and truthful.  It's a very freeing form of art.  Love!

Thank you for stopping by.  Happy crafting!

An Anniversary

You may recall my countdown to retirement.  I promise you this won't be counting my days retired, with the exception of today.   Today though, is my one week anniversary of retirement.  It was mentioned to me that it takes time to settle into retirement and if that's the case, I've settled in nicely.

I was inspired to complete a piece of artwork today.  Truthfully this angel was almost done for a few weeks, but it's not always easy to put down the paintbrush.  Also, sometimes I have to wait for the right words for the painting, and I don't mind waiting.  Her message came to me today and I'm happy to say, here's my latest angel.

The message tells the story of the painting and comes from the heart, otherwise it wouldn't be real.  It seems to me that art comes from the soul and it should inspire.  I'm inspired to finish more angels. What inspires you?

Mixed Media Sneak Peak

What a great weekend!  I won 6 personal training sessions and couldn't be more excited because oh boy. I need these sessions bad!  Looking forward to September - that's when the sessions start.

Strawberries!  We went strawberry picking again and the smell walking into the field was amazing! Yum!  It didn't take long to pick a full bucket of strawberries, and it won't take long to devour them. We could buy local strawberries from the grocery store, but knowing exactly when they were picked is the best! So fresh, so delicious!

And...I've been reworking one of my mixed media paintings, which is the sneak peak for today.

New colours, layers and layers were added, plus lots of birds.  Fun little flower and butterfly crown Just a sneak peak as it isn't finished.yet.

Oh wait....I'm not done yet.....

         ....drum roll please....

.                          ....last but not least

....I have...

more days to work!

Super excited for the next chapter of my life!

That's all for today.  I hope you also had a wonderful weekend!

Happy Crafting!

Butterfly Birthday

I'm so thrilled to be able to retire this year. This month!  In 9 business days!!  I work for a great company for the past 37 years and now it's time to move on to the next phase of my life.  I should be able to 'find' a lot more time to make cards and paint, and whatever else strikes my fancy!

Today I have another crisp, clean & simple card.  By now you know I love glimmer paper from Stampin' Up!  The butterfly die I used is also from SU, as are the base and layer for the card, and the sentiment.  Guess I could have just said everything I used on the card is from Stampin' Up! And now I have.

This card and 6 others I've made are being donated as a prize for the 30 for 30 Fitness Challenge wrap up event in support of the House of Friendship Kitchener Waterloo.

Thank you for stopping by!  Happy Crafting!
